Turn them toward you onto their side.Use one hand to support their top shoulder blade while placing the other hand behind their knees. Then swingthe person’s legs over the edge of the bed.Place one hand onto their back, supporting the neck, and help them sit up.Fasten a gait belt to provide support when transferring to the wheelchair.Help the person scoot to the edge of the bed until both feet are on the floor.Help them put on and tie their shoes.Have the person place their hands on your shoulders. Grasp the gait belt.Keeping your knees bent and your back straight, lean back, shifting your weight to support the person into astanding position. The leg farthest from the wheelchair should be supported between your legs.Help the person pivot toward the wheelchair as you hold on to them.
